Jesus said, "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." I tried to insulate myself from sorrow by isolating myself from other people, by keeping others at a distance. But, when I went through some difficult times, I had no close friends to ask for advice and encouragement. In later years, I learned to make friends and open up to them both about my struggles and joys even as I have dealt with cancer since 2016. I have found that the saying is true.

Joy that is shared is doubled. Sorrow that is shared is cut in half.

My advice is, get involved in other peoples lives. Listen to their cares and concerns and celebrate their accomplishments. They will do the same to you and you will both be blessed.
