No one wins an argument. Even if one person out argues the other, he hasn't really won if he has created resentment and anger against himself.

Every one wins a discussion. When a topic is considered from several viewpoints, and information is brought into focus, everyone can come away with a better understanding. It is not unusual for people to change their minds during a discussion.

The difference? Arguments are focused on who is right. Discussions are focused on what is right.
